Background confusion vs.  Subject focus

Since the advent of the colored photograph, there have been many enhancements both in photographic style and finished product. Many thought that the color photograph would completely replace the black and white era. Now after a lot of experimenting, we find we have been led back to the use of black and white to bring focus back where it belongs, on the subject.

In the example above you can see how the various colors and object placements in the background have detracted the focus from the intended subject, the person. Not only does this method return the focus to the subject but does not remove the background. Now, the background is enhancing the subject, giving it full attention.

Almost any individual component of a digital image can be enhanced this way. Lips, eyes, clothing, hair or even inanimate objects can be made to stand out in your favorite photograph. If your image is not digital we can scan it for you (limited to 81/2" X 14 common size). The original picture will be returned to you
